Graphite iBook G3 Clamshell
I bought another iBook G3 Clamshell on eBay. The seller listed it and I bought it for a total of $63.98 on August 31, 2025, and received it on September 6, 2025. This laptop came in pieces, everything was taken apart. The seller listed it for “parts” as that is literally the condition of the laptop. I eventually put it all back together, and while in the process I ordered a mini SATA SSD to IDE, as well as an mSATA SSD 64GB SATE III from Amazon and installed it. The hard drive was failing so it was required to be replaced. Unfortunately, I sliced the trackpad ribbon cable while I was reassembling the top case, but I had a spare ribbon cable from a Blueberry Clamshell that I bought on eBay for parts just before I received this Graphite Clamshell. Thankfully the track pad ribbon cables are interchangeable on the top case. I swapped the ribbon cables out and the trackpad now works again. I noticed on the keyboard, the top center light cover was missing, so I took that missing piece from a different Blueberry Clamshell I bought on eBay a few months later and swapped that in. This whole entire process was long and tedious, but all worth it in the end as Clamshell was brought back to life.
